The Tile Material

While it may be easy to choose the best mop for tile floors, it is not so easy to choose a cleaner.

Think about the tile material that you are cleaning and choose the right type of cleaner for it.

Granite, marble, travertine and slate should be cleaned with special products and not with common household or floor cleaners.

Mop Head

Microfiber is hands down the best material for mopping. It traps particles better than cotton and if you wring it out well, it won’t leave streaks.

Choose Your Weapon

Your cleaning weapon, that is.

Which do you prefer?

  • Traditional Mop. These require you to manually wring out the water, which means they will probably have more water in them than the spin mop (we’ll discuss that next).

If you are cleaning tiles on an outdoor patio, then these mops are great. Look for one with mini scrubber brushes on mixed in with the mop fibers to help you loosen ground in dirt and grime.

  • Spin Mop. For general cleaning, it’s hard to beat a spin mop. The centrifugal basket removes most of the water, providing you with a damp mop that won’t leave puddles and streaks everywhere as you clean.
  • Steam Mop. Steam mops are great for sanitizing tile. There’s no need to add any chemicals, just use the power of steam to loosen dirt and kill bacteria!

These are great for both indoor and outdoor tile.

As always, make sure you know what your tile is made of before you use a mop. You don’t want to ruin the tile by using the wrong cleaning products and tools on it!

  • Scrub Mop. Just imagine a scrub brush with a long handle.

These are great for loosening grime and sticky messes that soft mop fibers can’t clean (number 10 above).

Top 3 Best Mop for Tile Floors Reviews

1. Twist and Shout Mop TNSM-T1

The Twist and Shout spin mop is one of the best for cleaning a variety of hard flooring, especially tile and laminate, which is why it earns the number one spot on our list.

It features a sturdy handle and bucket, along with a handy splashguard on the spin basket that prevents the water from spraying everywhere as you spin the mop head.

To help you access hard to reach areas, the mop head can bend 180°, which allows you to get in there under the furniture and chairs.

You’ll love that you can throw the microfiber mop head in the washing machine and that it doesn’t leave lint fibers everywhere as cotton mops do.

There are plenty of great spin mops out there, but this one is affordable, well designed and made of quality materials. It will withstand the test of time!

2. Bona WM710013432

Forget the broom, you need a Bona Microfiber mop for all of your dry mopping needs!

This is great for those delicate tiles we mentioned above, such as granite and travertine, since you use it dry.

Should you need a bit of extra cleaning power, you can also use it with your favorite floor cleaning spray or dampen it to help you remove dirt and grime from your floors.

It features a swiveling mop head and telescopic handle that allows you to extend it to the right length.

This is probably the best mop for tile floors that have a flat, almost seamless surface. This will glide right across it and help you pick up and remove unwanted dirt, but if you have uneven tile surface and large grout gaps, then you might stick with the Twist and Shout mop above.

You can use this with both tile and hardwood floors, so get yourself some extra microfiber cleaning pads if you have a variety of hard flooring in your home.

3. Bona WM710013432

Since this is part steam mop/ part vacuum, we decided to include it on our list. It’s the best of both worlds, so why not tell you about it!?

While this is specifically designed for pet owners, that doesn’t mean it won’t benefit the rest of us who don’t have pets.

This handy machine works as a vacuum for picking up hair and debris (skip the dry mopping or sweeping), and when you’re ready to sanitize, just select a steam setting (high or low) to activate the steam.

This also comes with Bissell’s steam boost disposable wet pads for extra dirty, sticky messes that you’d rather not touch.

Another fun and unique feature is in the dustbin, which has a little pump that allows you to push out hair and debris directly into the waste bin without touching it. It keeps those allergens away from you!

Skip the separate vacuum unit, skip the sweeping and skip the mopping. All tasks are combined into one with this machine.

Expensive, but very handy!
